Interested in becoming an Air Force ROTC Cadet, but don’t know how? We have a program for you. The New Cadet Orientation Program (NCOP) is a voluntary three-day program held for all students interested in participating in Air Force ROTC at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. This program is an introduction to the AFROTC program as a whole, and gives students a head start on the semester, providing cadets with early access to their dorm rooms, opportunities to develop relationships with classmates, and an intimate knowledge of the campus layout, all before classes even start.

NCOP will be held before the fall semester begins, right before Navigating Rensselaer and Beyond (NRB) week, from August 21-23, 2015. Cadets will learn basic marching, customs and courtesies, teamwork, and will have some great fun at the same time. Cadets will spend these two and a half days developing their understanding of Air Force ROTC and our program. They will also get to know their class and make new friends that will last a lifetime.

Students must either attend RPI or one of the cross-town schools that allow students to enroll in AFROTC at RPI. However, it is not mandatory to attend NCOP to enroll in AFROTC. If you have any questions, or are interested in registering for NCOP, please contact our main office at (518) 276-6236 or email You may also contact the Cadet Commander of NCOP (Cadet Zachary Holmes); his main line is (860) 921-8035, and he may be reached by email at holmez at Please write “ATTN: NCOP” in the subject line of your email.
